Parental Rights and Information

As a parent, you are the most important voice in your child’s education. Texas law recognizes that students do best when families are informed, involved, and respected. Parents are valued partners with teachers, administrators, and the Fort Worth ISD Board of Trustees in supporting student learning across our district.

Parents have specific rights outlined in the Texas Education Code, including Chapter 26: Parental Rights and Responsibilities. The Parental Rights and Options Information form explains many of these rights, including the ability to refuse or remove a child from certain activities or instruction. It is not a complete list of all parental rights. Parents are encouraged to review this form along with the Fort Worth ISD Student Handbook.
