Meet the Principal

Dana McKenzie is ready to help the Blue Jays soar even higher. 

Coming from Tanglewood Elementary School, Principal McKenzie will bring a culture of high expectations and hard work to the McLean 6th Grade Center.

She is originally from California and graduated from California State University, Northridge. Her husband is a math teacher at Overton Park Elementary.

Principal McKenzie enjoys reading the Bible, hot yoga, needlepoint, and playing Mahjong. She is excited for the school year to start and to be part of the Blue Jay family.

“Everyone loves McLean 6th,” she said. “It's a sweet school where students are able to transition to middle school in a safe and supportive environment.”

Mrs. McKenzie is passionate about learning new things and enjoys the fast-paced environment working with students and educators. 

“We are predicted to be a B-rated campus based on preliminary STAAR data for 2024-25,” she said. “ While this is a gradeup from the previous year, and a huge accomplishment to be celebrated, we have work to do to earn an A. We will be providing advanced math instruction for all students this coming year to help reach our goal.”
