Jessica Leavitt is honored to serve as principal of McLean 6th Grade Center and brings more than 20 years of experience in Fort Worth ISD. She began her career teaching middle school mathematics, spending 10 years inspiring sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students before completing her principal internship at J. Martin Jacquet Middle School. She then served as an assistant principal at McLean Middle School and Paschal High School, where she spent the next 10 years supporting students, coaching teachers, and leading instructional growth.

For Mrs. Leavitt, returning to sixth grade feels like coming home. Her husband and both of her sons attended McLean for 6th Grade, and she believes sixth grade is one of the most important years in a student’s educational journey. It is where students begin building the confidence, resilience, and habits that prepare them for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

Mrs. Leavitt believes every child has unique gifts and limitless potential. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships, maintaining high expectations, and creating a school where every student feels safe, valued, challenged, and inspired to learn. She encourages students to embrace mistakes as opportunities to grow and believes that bravery is something we practice every day.

This year’s campus theme, “SOAR Together: Higher Expectations. Greater Success,” reflects her commitment to partnering with students, staff, and families to help every Blue Jay reach new heights. She encourages every student to live the campus motto:

Be Bold. Be Brave. Be Blue Jays.

Mrs. Leavitt is excited to join the Mc6 community and looks forward to watching all Blue Jays learn, grow, and soar together.
